The Performance & Observability Engineer ensures system reliability, scalability, and visibility across the technology stack, focusing on performance insights, real-time issue detection, and proactive optimization.
Qualifications
- Experience with Observability and APM Tools
- Experience with KQL
- Performance and Load Testing
- Cloud and Infrastructure Monitoring
- Knowledge of Log Aggregation and Analysis
- Automation and Scripting skills
- Incident Response and ITSM experience
- Understanding of technology stack applications
- Desirable DevOps experience
- Desirable Nexthink experience
Responsibilities
- Analyse application and infrastructure performance
- Develop performance benchmarks and SLIs
- Collaborate with SRE and DevOps for CI/CD optimization
- Implement caching and query optimization
- Design observability frameworks for metrics and logs
- Instrument services for improved visibility
- Enable distributed tracing for performance debugging
- Standardise logging and telemetry collection
- Define best practices for monitoring consistency
- Transition to proactive insights with AI-driven detection
- Ensure observability across all system components
- Implement SLIs, SLOs, and Error Budgets
- Automate root cause analysis and incident detection
- Reduce MTTD and MTTR through improved observability
- Integrate monitoring tools with incident response platforms
- Develop self-healing mechanisms to reduce toil
- Improve alerting strategies to reduce false positives
- Define governance models for observability adoption
- Ensure log retention and compliance with standards
- Develop dashboards for reliability and performance trends
