The Platform Engineer role focuses on driving a CI/CD modernization program by decoupling deployment pipelines from a legacy system into self-contained, per-repo pipelines within a multi-region AWS environment. Key responsibilities include building CI/CD pipelines in GitLab CI, migrating services, conducting pre-migration audits, and coordinating with development teams to ensure smooth deployments.

Qualifications
- Deep experience with GitLab CI/CD
- AWS CodeDeploy canary/blue-green deployments
- Strong shell scripting and AWS CLI fluency
- Experience migrating away from legacy CI/CD systems
- Developer experience design
Responsibilities
- Build and ship CI/CD pipelines in GitLab CI
- Migrate each service from the legacy deployment system
- Complete a pre-migration audit for every service
- Make pragmatic, well-scoped engineering decisions
- Work directly with development teams during migration
- Document decisions, issues and fixes in the repo
- Contribute to the next layer of shared GitLab CI templates
