Platform Engineer/Architect, Journeyman

Job summary

Provides platform engineering, Tier 3 support, and infrastructure maintenance for the DFAS Common Computing Environment NIPRNet unclassified enclave. The role resolves DFASNow tickets, supports technology deployments and testing, maintains network configuration documentation, monitors infrastructure, and participates in change control, continuity exercises, and disaster recovery testing. Work includes Windows Server and Linux administration, virtualization platforms, and compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements.

Qualifications

• At least five years of systems engineering experience
• Windows Server and Linux administration experience
• Experience with NIPRNet
• Experience with VMware or Nutanix virtualization platforms
• Knowledge of MECM, SCOM, and Microsoft management tools
• Experience with ServiceNow or DFASNow ticketing systems
• Understanding of DoD security requirements
• Active Secret security clearance
• United States citizenship and ability to pass a background check
• Prior NIPRNet administration experience preferred
• Experience with DFAS systems preferred
• Knowledge of DISA STIGs and system hardening preferred
• PowerShell or Bash scripting experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide platform engineering support for the DFAS NIPRNet unclassified enclave
• Process and resolve Tier 3 DFASNow support tickets
• Update DFASNow records with essential information
• Support implementation and testing of new technologies
• Assist with network configuration documentation
• Support CCE infrastructure monitoring
• Participate in change control processes
• Document solutions and work performed in the ticketing system
• Coordinate with senior engineers on complex issues
• Support continuity of operations exercises and disaster recovery testing
