Platform Engineer/Architect Senior

Job summary

Provides senior platform engineering, Tier 3 support, and infrastructure modernization for the DFAS Common Computing Environment (CCE). The role includes resolving priority DFASNow tickets, testing and implementing hardware and software, maintaining infrastructure monitoring and network configuration documentation, and developing technical designs, briefings, estimates, and cost-benefit analyses. The environment includes Windows and Linux servers, enterprise virtualization, MECM, SCOM, Microsoft System Center, and Active Directory.

Qualifications

• At least 8 years of enterprise systems engineering experience
• Windows Server administration expertise
• Experience with enterprise virtualization platforms
• Proficiency with MECM, SCOM, and Microsoft System Center
• Experience with Active Directory
• Experience developing technical documentation and design specifications
• Familiarity with DoD change control processes
• Experience with DFAS or DoD financial systems preferred
• Prior DoD infrastructure engineering experience preferred
• Knowledge of DISA STIGs preferred
• Experience with containerization technologies preferred
• Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance
• United States citizenship and ability to pass a background check

Responsibilities

• Provide senior platform engineering support for DFAS CCE infrastructure
• Process priority Tier 3 DFASNow support tickets
• Support implementation of new hardware and software
• Test, configure, and install new technologies while preventing conflicts
• Develop briefings, studies, project estimates, and cost-benefit analyses
• Prepare detailed design documentation for critical design reviews
• Support infrastructure monitoring and service delivery
• Maintain engineering network configuration documentation
• Coordinate coverage and workload balance with government team members
