Platform Engineer / DevOps senior (IT) / Freelance

Job summary

The role takes ownership of managed platform services running on Kubernetes and improves their reliability, observability, and supportability for development and Support teams. Responsibilities include operating PostgreSQL through CloudNativePG and Kafka through Strimzi, building self-service services and Support workflows in Backstage, and improving GitLab CI/CD, automation, and delivery-chain security. The work also includes documenting services, investigating complex incidents, and exploring generative and agentic AI for deployments and diagnostics.

Qualifications

• Confirmed-to-expert experience with PostgreSQL and CloudNativePG, and Kafka and Strimzi.
• Confirmed-to-expert experience with Kubernetes operators.
• Confirmed experience with Kubernetes, Helm, GitLab CI/CD, and GitOps.
• Terraform and infrastructure as code experience.
• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenSearch.
• Production experience with Linux, Python, and Bash.
• Senior Platform Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or SRE profile with a strong development, automation, and product mindset.
• Autonomous, pragmatic, instructive, and comfortable working with architecture, development, systems, and Support teams.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of CloudNativePG and Strimzi managed services, document and maintain them, investigate complex incidents, and improve reliability and observability.
• Gather requirements, design and integrate self-service services on Kubernetes operators, and automate deployment and lifecycle management.
• Extend Backstage with guided Support procedures and secure automated remediations.
• Improve GitLab CI/CD pipelines, automation, compliance, observability, and developer tools.
• Explore generative and agentic AI for deployment and diagnostics.
