Platform Engineer

Job summary

This role deploys, operates, and supports Kubernetes-based Centracs Mobility installations in customer on-premises environments, while also assisting with cloud DevOps for hosted environments. Responsibilities include maintaining repeatable Helm deployments, on-premises platform and database services, monitoring and security, and Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines for containerized .NET (C#) and Angular applications. Some travel to customer sites is required.

Qualifications

• 2–6 years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, SRE, or systems engineering.
• Hands-on experience installing, upgrading, and troubleshooting self-managed Kubernetes, such as RKE2, k3s, kubeadm, or OpenShift.
• Experience with Docker containers and Helm.
• Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, TLS and certificates, firewalls, VPNs, and network segmentation.
• Linux and Windows Server administration, with Bash and PowerShell scripting.
• Azure DevOps pipeline development or comparable CI/CD experience, and Azure or AWS cloud experience.
• Working knowledge of SQL Server and PostgreSQL administration.
• Experience with security policies and practices, such as SOC 2.
• Experience supporting enterprise production software, preferably in customer-managed environments.
• Programming experience in a high-level language such as C#.
• Ability to communicate with customer IT staff and travel to customer sites as needed.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or an equivalent engineering field.
• Preferred: experience with air-gapped deployments, Kafka, Keycloak, cert-manager, infrastructure as code, observability tools, virtualization platforms, or ITS and public-sector customers.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Kubernetes clusters in customer on-premises environments.
• Package and deploy Centracs Mobility services with Helm and version-controlled configuration.
• Create tooling, runbooks, and documentation for repeatable installations and upgrades, including air-gapped deployments.
• Operate on-premises platform services for ingress, load balancing, certificates, storage, secrets, identity, and messaging.
• Provision and maintain SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases, including backups, restores, high availability, and upgrades.
• Configure monitoring, logging, and alerting, and troubleshoot customer environments remotely or on site.
• Harden and patch clusters, nodes, and containers; remediate CVEs and support security practices such as SOC 2.
• Maintain Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines for containerized .NET (C#) and Angular applications and support cloud-hosted Kubernetes.
• Use AI tools for scripting, troubleshooting, automation, and documentation, reviewing their output before production use.
