Job summary
Develops and evolves an internal developer portal based on Backstage to improve self-service and productivity for development teams. The role includes building plugins, extensions, UI components, and dashboards; integrating container, integration, and virtual machine platforms; and automating development workflows. It also contributes to the product roadmap and maintains quality through code reviews, automated tests, and engineering best practices.

Qualifications
- Several years of practical development experience with TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks such as React
- Strong knowledge of Backstage or experience developing plugins for similar open-source platforms
- Experience with cloud platforms and knowledge of container orchestration, API management, or virtual machines
- Experience with modern software development practices, including clean code, CI/CD, and automated testing
- Ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly and collaborate across disciplines
- Readiness to take ownership of product development from concept through launch
- Interest in improving developer experience and productivity through intuitive tools
- Very good German and English skills, at least C1
Responsibilities
- Build and enhance the internal developer portal
- Design and implement Backstage plugins and extensions
- Integrate existing container, integration, and virtual machine platforms
- Develop custom UI components and dashboards for services, metrics, and deployment processes
- Automate and optimize development workflows to expand self-service capabilities
- Collaborate with platform teams to aggregate reliable data from multiple systems
- Maintain code quality through reviews, automated tests, and best practices
- Contribute to the portal's product vision and roadmap
