Platform Engineer

Job summary

The Data Platform Engineer builds and maintains infrastructure for the production, discovery, and consumption of data supporting analytics and machine learning. The role implements platform capabilities, collaborates on data products, and helps teams operate reliable, secure, well-governed services with self-service access. The work involves cloud platforms, ideally GCP, alongside infrastructure as code, containers, automation, monitoring, and scalable system design.

Qualifications

• Experience with cloud infrastructure and platforms, ideally GCP.
• Knowledge of infrastructure as code, containerisation, automation, and monitoring tools.
• Experience using version control tools such as Git.
• Experience designing, building, and operating highly available, scalable systems.
• Understanding of data platforms and data-domain tooling.
• Working knowledge of Unix-based operating systems, including Mac or Linux.
• Experience with a scripting language such as Python or Ruby.
• Passion for working in an agile, multidisciplinary DevOps team.

Responsibilities

• Implement the data platform in collaboration with product owners, architects, and end users.
• Help design, build, and maintain data products with data engineers.
• Maintain shared platform tools and standards.
• Enable data teams to own the operation, performance, and availability of data services.
• Keep the platform secure, well governed, and well managed.
• Develop new platform capabilities with self-service in mind.
• Monitor the platform to identify issues proactively.
• Solve technical challenges and automate work where possible.
