Job summary

The Platform Engineer designs, builds, and supports secure, scalable infrastructure for a streaming service, while contributing shared capabilities and best practices across a wider platform team. The role uses AWS, Terraform and Infrastructure as Code to support deployments, production incident resolution, infrastructure upgrades, and Kubernetes workloads; it also maintains monitoring tools such as Prometheus and helps define infrastructure for new and existing applications.

Qualifications

  • Experience with secure cloud practices and scalable cloud infrastructure, ideally on AWS
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, ideally Terraform, and related version control strategies
  • Experience with containerisation and deploying workloads, ideally on Kubernetes
  • Experience with continuous integration and delivery patterns and platforms such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving infrastructure-related production incidents
  • Experience optimising cloud costs while maintaining infrastructure resilience
  • In-depth Linux knowledge, including CentOS or Amazon Linux 2
  • Experience working with Agile delivery methodologies
  • Strong communication skills and ability to give and receive constructive feedback
  • Ability to collaborate across embedded and platform teams
  • Experience with Kubernetes management tools such as Helm

Responsibilities

  • Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and shared platform capabilities
  • Prioritise infrastructure upgrades and delivery work with the streaming team
  • Support deployment and production issues
  • Review and approve pull requests for infrastructure, permissions, and access changes
  • Maintain and support streaming infrastructure, including Prometheus
  • Manage upgrades of Kubernetes deployments in AWS
  • Design infrastructure for new and existing applications
  • Share best practices and contribute improvements and designs across the platform team
