Qualifications
- Solid hands-on experience running infrastructure and deployment pipelines in production.
- Strong practical AWS experience (EC2, EKS/Kubernetes, IAM, networking, secrets); GCP experience is a plus.
- Comfortable with Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tools.
- Experience with Kubernetes and Docker for deploying, debugging, and operating containerized workloads.
- Ability to read and write backend code; Go experience is ideal, but other statically-typed languages (TypeScript, Java, C#, Rust) with strong DevOps experience are considered.
- Security mindset, considering secrets, access, and least privilege, with a desire to grow SecOps skills.
- Self-directed, ambitious, takes ownership, works independently, and drives initiatives.
- Pragmatic approach to trade-offs between speed, cost, reliability, and maintainability.
- Ambitious and excited to work in a friendly scale-up environment.
Responsibilities
- Own AWS-based infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and EKS Kubernetes clusters, ensuring microservice operation across environments.
- Maintain and evolve CircleCI pipelines and custom Kitt CLI tooling for faster, safer, and easier builds and deployments.
- Improve engineer shipping processes, including Helm charts, Skaffold-based dev workflows, and local environments, treating internal tooling as a product.
- Ensure security and compliance through secrets management (AWS Secrets Manager, External Secrets), IAM, access control, threat detection (GuardDuty, Inspector), and ISO 27001 support.
- Build and tune monitoring, dashboards, and alerting (Datadog) for early issue detection and system understanding in production.
- Develop backend Go microservices (gRPC, GraphQL gateway, MySQL/Postgres/Redis) to fix issues, add features, and improve services.
- Monitor cloud spend and scaling (Karpenter autoscaling, right-sizing), balancing cost, performance, and reliability.
