Platform Engineer

Job summary

MANTECH seeks a Platform Engineer to develop and maintain production environments, ensuring a modern and secure foundation for containerized applications. The role involves collaborating with product teams, monitoring platform performance, and automating infrastructure provisioning.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED with 7+ years of experience in Information Systems Security or Platform Engineering
• Experience in providing DevSecOps implementation using Jenkins, GitLab, or similar tools
• Hands-on experience managing and maintaining containerized environments such as Kubernetes, OpenShift, or VMWare PKS
• Experience with Linux systems administration and troubleshooting in enterprise environments
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Bash for automation and system management
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Ansible
• Working knowledge of Source Version Control and Build/Release tools and methodologies
• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP certification)
• Experience with cyber risk and compliance automation tools
• Advanced certifications in Kubernetes such as Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or cloud platforms
• Experience implementing security best practices and compliance controls within containerized environments
• Strong background in networking concepts, service meshes, and ingress controllers
• Experience working in highly secure, co-located government or defense environments

Responsibilities

• Develop, configure, and maintain production container orchestration environments including Kubernetes, OpenShift, and VMWare PKS Essentials
• Ensure a modern, secure, and highly available infrastructure foundation for product teams to deploy containerized applications
• Collaborate with co-located team members and product developers to troubleshoot infrastructure and deployment issues
• Monitor platform performance, implement scaling strategies, and ensure system reliability and uptime
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management to streamline platform operations
• Manage the software build process and ensure seamless connection to enterprise CI/CD pipelines
• Maintain system baselines and configuration management items for the production infrastructure
• Work with stakeholders to ensure complete and functioning systems that meet all platform requirements
