Platform Engineer

Job summary

Thales is seeking a Platform Engineer to support and evolve a dedicated AI platform capability within the UK Digital Competence Centre, focusing on maintaining secure and high-performing on-premise infrastructure services.

Qualifications

• Experience with Windows Server operating systems.
• Experience with Unix-based operating systems, especially RHEL.
• Experience with VMware ESXi and other hypervisors.
• Experience supporting containerized environments, particularly Kubernetes.
• Incident and problem management experience.
• Understanding of core networking principles.
• Knowledge of application and operating system lifecycle management.
• Experience in enterprise or operational infrastructure support.
• Understanding of platform and infrastructure support principles.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain infrastructure for an on-premise hosted AI platform.
• Monitor platform health and performance, resolving issues.
• Perform routine maintenance and lifecycle activities.
• Collaborate with engineering and security teams for platform support.
• Contribute to technical documentation and continuous improvement.
• Support day-to-day operations across server and virtualization environments.
• Maintain service availability and performance through proactive maintenance.
• Support containerized services and their underlying infrastructure.
• Investigate and resolve infrastructure issues per support processes.
• Work with internal teams and suppliers to restore service.
• Identify opportunities for reliability and efficiency improvements.
