Platform Engineer

Job summary

The Fidelis Partnership is seeking a Platform Engineer to join their Analytics Product Engineering team in London. The role involves designing, building, and operating platform capabilities for high-performance distributed computing products, focusing on infrastructure automation, CI/CD enablement, and performance optimization.

Qualifications

• At least 7 years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering.
• Strong experience with hybrid, bare metal, and virtualized infrastructure.
• Understanding of networking, security, and access control principles.
• Experience with observability practices including logging and monitoring.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server installations.
• Experience with containerisation and orchestration solutions.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or Bicep.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience managing storage, backup/restore, and Disaster Recovery solutions.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute platform engineering strategy and roadmap.
• Design and operate distributed runtime environments.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automated provisioning.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
• Implement observability through logging, metrics, and alerting.
• Monitor and optimise system performance and resource utilisation.
• Ensure platform security and compliance with standards.
• Maintain operational documentation and support procedures.
• Establish knowledge-sharing and cross-training practices.
• Ensure key platform processes are documented and transferable.
• Support resilience through shared ownership of platform components.
• Collaborate with engineering squads to drive platform adoption.
