Platform Engineer

Job summary

Modernize and operate the infrastructure behind a student information system used by more than 300,000 vocational education students. The role includes migrating workloads to Kubernetes on Azure, automating infrastructure and deployments with Terraform, GitOps, and GitHub Actions, improving observability with Prometheus, Grafana, and Loki, and handling operational shifts, incidents, and platform support.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Platform Engineer, Cloud Engineer, or in a similar infrastructure role.
• Experience with Kubernetes, preferably AKS, and tools such as Helm and ArgoCD.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Azure, including networking, Entra ID, and Key Vault.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible, and CI/CD with GitHub Actions.
• Good foundational knowledge of Linux.
• Experience with incident management and troubleshooting.
• Experience with AI tools such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot, and the ability to identify how AI can improve platform engineering.

Responsibilities

• Migrate existing infrastructure to Kubernetes on Azure Kubernetes Service.
• Configure and manage Azure infrastructure, including networks, identities, and secrets, using Terraform and Ansible.
• Automate deployments and processes with GitHub Actions and GitOps.
• Improve platform observability using Prometheus, Grafana, and Loki.
• Participate in one to two operational shifts per week, resolving incidents and responding to customer questions.
• Support Service Desk and development teams with platform and infrastructure issues.
• Explore and promote AI tools for platform engineering, including configuration authoring and incident analysis.
