Platform Engineer

Job summary

The Platform Engineer role focuses on ensuring the reliability, scalability, security, and operational excellence of the backend platform. Key responsibilities include managing AWS environments, building deployment pipelines, monitoring application health, and optimizing PostgreSQL databases, while utilizing technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and various monitoring platforms like Grafana and Prometheus.

Qualifications

• Strong Linux administration experience.
• Expert knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.
• Extensive AWS experience.
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals.
• Experience with PostgreSQL administration.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with monitoring platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch or Datadog.
• Strong scripting skills (Bash and Python).
• Experience managing production systems with high availability requirements.
• Familiarity with reverse proxies such as Nginx or Traefik.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy and maintain highly available cloud infrastructure.
• Manage AWS environments including ECS, EC2, RDS, VPC, CloudFront, Route53, IAM, WAF, S3, Secrets Manager.
• Continuously optimize infrastructure performance and cost.
• Build disaster recovery and backup strategies.
• Build and maintain deployment pipelines.
• Automate build, testing and deployment processes.
• Monitor application health and proactively resolve production issues.
• Manage application servers, reverse proxies, load balancers and container orchestration.
• Build centralized monitoring and alerting.
• Manage PostgreSQL databases.
• Implement infrastructure security best practices.
