Platform Engineering Lead/Platform Architect

Job summary

Lead a small platform engineering team taking a Kubernetes-based banking platform on AWS through go-live and into ongoing production operations. Own reliability, security, and engineering standards, including production readiness, disaster recovery, incident management, vendor integrations, architecture decisions, and audited CI/CD practices. The platform uses AWS EKS, Terraform, GitOps, messaging, and observability in a regulated financial services setting.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with AWS, Kubernetes or GitOps, and Terraform at scale.
• Team leadership or technical leadership experience.
• Knowledge of PKI, mTLS, OAuth2/OIDC, and network and edge security.
• Experience operating production platforms, including disaster recovery and incident management.
• Experience writing architecture decisions and presenting them to governance boards.
• CI/CD expertise and a pragmatic approach to controls in regulated environments.
• Experience in financial services or payments is desirable.
• Experience with message brokers and observability tooling is desirable.
• Experience with SaaS banking vendors is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, hire, and onboard platform engineers; set priorities and review designs and pull requests.
• Own production readiness, disaster recovery testing, penetration testing, and vulnerability remediation.
• Operate the platform across AWS, EKS, Terraform, GitOps, policy enforcement, messaging, and observability.
• Maintain runbooks and lead incident response.
• Manage private and mTLS vendor integrations, certificate lifecycle, and identity.
• Write and present architecture decision records to review boards.
• Set audited CI/CD pipelines, release gates, and promotion standards with central engineering.
• Manage the Jira backlog, status reporting, cost estimates, and risk escalation.
• Support delivery partners onboarding new services to the platform.
