Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/IT and/or 8+ years of equivalent IT working experience.
- Eligibility to work for Interac Corp. in Canada in a full-time capacity.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- 5+ years in platform engineering/SRE/DevOps/DBA roles with strong hands-on experience on Red Hat OpenShift/Docker/Kubernetes, CI/CD tools and automation scripting.
- Automation-first mindset: Ansible, Bash, and Python; GitOps workflows; IaC familiarity (Terraform helpful).
- Change management (ITIL), maintenance window planning, and rollback engineering.
- Experience with observability (Solarwinds, Dynatrace), log platforms, and alerting.
Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and operate a production OpenShift platform on prem, including cluster/node lifecycle, operators, and platform stability responsibilities.
- Execute measured, low risk platform configuration changes in production (e.g., routing/ingress/TLS policy changes) with controlled rollouts.
- Manage platform configuration changes and upgrades using operator driven, controlled rollouts aligned with change management practices.
- Operate OpenShift Service Mesh (Istio based) to enable secure, observable service to service communication.
- Manage mesh control plane lifecycle via Operators and CRDs.
- Support traffic management (routing, canary releases, rate limiting), zero trust security (mTLS, workload identity), and observability (metrics, logs, tracing).
- Understand and operate sidecar and ambient (sidecar less) modes as appropriate to platform requirements.
- Senior capability administering RHEL (Windows Server, nice to have) underlying supporting components and adjacent services (patching, stability, software currency).
- Support minor/major upgrades, extensions to databases: CockroachDB , EDB Postgres/PostgreSQL
- Facilitate patching activities and forward/rollback testing in lower environments to reduce production risk.
- Build and troubleshoot Docker images used for OpenShift workloads, including authoring and maintaining Dockerfiles, multi‑stage builds (where required), and image reproducibility.
- Strong competency managing base images and “golden image” practices (selecting approved bases and ensuring they are updated with security fixes
- Enforce and troubleshoot non‑root container execution expectations (e.g., Dockerfile USER and runtime permissions constraints) consistent with enterprise cluster deployment standards.
- Manage and validate image runtime behavior (filesystem permissions, read‑only constraints where feasible, and container start-up failures linked to image construction).
- Operate and integrate artifact and container image repositories that support OpenShift deployments (pull/push flows, promotion patterns, availability during releases).
- Support and troubleshoot binary/image scanning workflows and address findings that block deployments.
- Operate CI/CD pipelines that build Docker images, publish artifacts, and support deployment workflows (pipeline troubleshooting that impacts releases and platform stability).
- Automation-first capability using Ansible, Bash, and Python to reduce manual toil in container build/release and operational tasks.
- Maintain environment synchronization across deployments (application versions, configuration, and certificates) so container releases are consistent across lower/prod environments.
- Operate API ingress and routing tiers and apply safe config changes (including TLS policies) with measured rollouts.
