The role responds to incidents across Linux, Kubernetes, GPU compute, virtualisation, and large-scale storage, while building controlled automation and improving service monitoring and remediation. It also manages vendor escalations and operational changes for a 24/7 estate using technologies such as InfiniBand, RoCE, Prometheus, and Terraform.

Qualifications

  • Experience operating production infrastructure in a 24/7 environment using site reliability engineering practices.
  • Strong Linux troubleshooting skills, including storage, host networking, processes, memory, and I/O.
  • Experience with scale-out, parallel, or enterprise storage.
  • Familiarity with virtualisation platforms such as Proxmox, VMware, or KVM.
  • Experience using observability tools and querying metrics and logs.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code, GitOps, and operational scripting.
  • Familiarity with server hardware support, vendors, and production security practices.
  • Clear written communication and a collaborative working style.
  • Preferred experience with GPU or HPC infrastructure, high-performance fabrics, Kubernetes, bare-metal provisioning, service-provider environments, ITSM tools, and ISO 27001 or SOC 2 controls.

Responsibilities

  • Own reliability of GPU interconnect domains, high-performance network fabrics, and DPU-based host networking.
  • Triage and resolve incidents across Kubernetes, storage, virtualisation, networking, and Linux hosts.
  • Operate multi-tenant management planes, virtualised shared services, distributed filesystems, object storage, and GPU compute fleets.
  • Build and maintain controlled automation, remediation tooling, and operational runbooks.
  • Monitor service objectives, correlate metrics, logs, and traces, and improve actionable alerts.
  • Deliver changes through peer review, testing, staged rollout, and rollback planning.
  • Perform patching and urgent vulnerability remediation.
  • Manage vendor support cases and provide diagnostic evidence.
  • Participate in major incident recovery, on-call duties, and blameless post-incident reviews.
