Principal Infrastructure Engineer

Job summary

The Principal Infrastructure Engineer leads an infrastructure team, coordinating projects to meet client needs while ensuring adherence to standards and procedures during the design and implementation of information systems. Key responsibilities include managing team staffing, conducting employee reviews, and facilitating communication with customers to ensure high levels of satisfaction, all while working within Agile methods and modern data center and cloud environments.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of related experience including a minimum of 3+ years in designing, building and maintaining secure infrastructure systems in IT
• experience with Agile Methods and modern data center and cloud environments
• experience across different IT departments for broader business perspective
• familiar with various concepts, practices, and procedures

Responsibilities

• leads an infrastructure team and coordinates projects to meet client needs
• builds a strong team by setting example and providing necessary training and mentoring
• ensures standards and procedures are followed during design and implementation of information systems
• monitors systems to ensure high levels of infrastructure performance
• works with customers to define epics and refine requirements into actionable stories
• conducts employee reviews and resource management tasks
• sets team goals and prioritizes tasks to align with objectives
• communicates goals to team members
• measures progress and results of team performance
• manages all aspects of team staffing including hiring and employee development
• assesses individual capabilities using clear performance standards
• provides feedback and coaching to staff
• coordinates and mentors project management efforts
• maintains communication with customers
• acts as liaison to assigned SBUs and management team
• provides status reports to management
• assists with budget preparation and management
• manages 24x7x365 staff coverage
