Job summary
Modernise an Azure-based platform into scalable, cloud-native and event-driven services while helping shape its architecture and engineering practices. This hands-on technical leadership role includes writing production code, owning the platform roadmap, improving developer experience, reliability and observability, mentoring engineers, and establishing responsible practices for AI-assisted development.

Qualifications
- Extensive backend or platform engineering experience building and operating high-traffic, business-critical systems.
- Strong cloud engineering expertise, preferably with Azure.
- Proficiency in a modern backend language, ideally TypeScript or Node.js; Java experience is also relevant.
- Experience with distributed and event-driven systems.
- Understanding of Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, CI/CD and observability tooling.
- Experience designing data-intensive services using relational and non-relational databases, caching and search technologies.
- Technical leadership experience influencing architecture, mentoring engineers and driving complex initiatives across teams.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and their benefits and limitations.
- Experience in automotive, marketplaces, classifieds or consumer-facing digital platforms is advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Lead design and delivery of cloud-native, event-driven services and retire legacy systems safely.
- Own and deliver the roadmap for core platform capabilities.
- Write production code, review pull requests and solve complex technical problems.
- Build and evolve shared services, tooling and engineering practices.
- Improve platform scalability, reliability, observability and operational standards.
- Collaborate with architects, engineering teams and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver practical solutions.
- Mentor engineers and establish consistent engineering standards.
- Establish effective practices and guardrails for AI-assisted development.
