Principal Platform Engineer

Job summary

The Principal Platform Engineer role is centered on enhancing cloud platforms across GCP and AWS, ensuring they are secure, scalable, and resilient. Responsibilities include designing AWS landing zone capabilities, developing platform services and CI/CD tooling, and driving AI transformation by building operational capabilities for AI-powered applications. This position requires collaboration with various teams to solve complex technical challenges and influence the technical direction of the organization.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in cloud-native platforms on GCP and/or AWS
• Deep understanding of modern cloud architectures
• Expertise in Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform
• Experience in large-scale CI/CD and automation capabilities
• Practical experience with AI and data-driven workloads
• Strong software engineering skills, especially in Python
• Familiarity with modern platform tooling
• Expertise in observability platforms
• Sound technical judgement balancing innovation and operational excellence
• Proven ability to influence technical direction and drive best practices

Responsibilities

• Shape the architecture and operational excellence of global cloud platforms across GCP and AWS
• Design and mature AWS landing zone capabilities
• Develop platform services, self-service capabilities, CI/CD tooling, and observability solutions
• Contribute to AI transformation by building platform capabilities and operational patterns
• Act as a technical authority for complex platform engineering challenges
• Evaluate emerging technologies and develop proof-of-concepts
• Partner with teams to define technical direction and establish engineering standards
• Drive continuous improvement in platform reliability and developer experience
• Mentor engineers and promote best practices
• Contribute to the evolution of Platform and AI Engineering functions
