Job summary
The Principal Platform Engineer architects and operates the infrastructure for data ingestion, storage, orchestration, cataloging, and analytics, enabling teams to build data pipelines and implement governance and compliance controls. The role covers CDC ingestion and an Apache Iceberg lakehouse across Raw, Curated, and Aggregated layers, using AWS services and Terraform, and strengthens reliability through observability, incident response, SLOs, and on-call operations.

Qualifications
- Hands-on AWS experience with Glue, Athena, Step Functions, EventBridge, Lake Formation, and S3
- Extensive Terraform experience creating and evolving shared modules
- Practical experience with CDC pipelines and an Iceberg-based Raw, Curated, and Aggregated lakehouse
- Familiarity with Kafka-based event streaming, Amazon MSK, and Glue Schema Registry
- Experience operating platforms relied upon by other teams, including incident response and SLOs
- Strong cross-team communication and ability to explain technical decisions to technical and nontechnical stakeholders
- Ability to communicate trade-offs and risks proactively to leadership
- Understanding of data-driven organizational practices and accessible data infrastructure
Responsibilities
- Architect and operate data ingestion, storage, and orchestration infrastructure
- Manage CDC ingestion into S3, raw schemas, data contracts, and shared Terraform modules
- Operate orchestration across Raw, Curated, and Aggregated lake layers using Step Functions, EventBridge, and Glue
- Provide and operate OpenMetadata catalog infrastructure and Superset tooling
- Define code boundaries, merge-blocking contract checks, and incident routing between infrastructure and pipeline logic
- Improve reliability with observability, incident response, SLOs, SLIs, and on-call operations
- Implement retention, access controls, classification metadata, and deletion-request routing
- Align platform standards and self-service practices with the wider infrastructure platform
