Job summary
Palo Alto Networks is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to architect and evolve their observability platform, focusing on integrating AI technologies and open source observability tools.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of software engineering or SRE experience.
- Hands-on experience with observability systems.
- Expertise with OpenTelemetry and its components.
- Experience with Prometheus-compatible metrics and Alertmanager.
- Hands-on experience with distributed tracing systems.
- Strong Kubernetes experience.
- Strong Python engineering skills.
Responsibilities
- Design and lead the evolution of a modern observability platform.
- Define architecture standards for telemetry collection and processing.
- Build scalable systems for metrics, distributed tracing, and log aggregation.
- Establish best practices for instrumentation across services and platforms.
- Lead adoption and standardization of OpenTelemetry.
- Design and implement telemetry pipelines using OpenTelemetry Collector.
- Architect metrics systems using Prometheus-compatible formats.
- Build observability capabilities for Kubernetes environments.
- Design and build AI-enabled observability workflows.
