Job summary

As a Principal Site Reliability Engineer at Ora***, you will operate, support, and improve the Exadata Cloud Service, focusing on software engineering, database engineering, and cloud infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Typically, 8 or more years of experience in relevant technical disciplines
• Ability to design, develop, troubleshoot, and maintain production-quality software
• Experience diagnosing complex software and networking issues
• Experience automating production operations and incident response
• Proven ability to learn unfamiliar technical domains quickly
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking and related concepts
• Demonstrated technical leadership and sound judgment during incidents

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deliver software and automation to improve Ora*** Database as a Service
• Lead investigation and resolution of complex technical issues
• Coordinate response to high-severity incidents
• Perform root-cause analysis and develop preventive solutions
• Build automation to eliminate repetitive operational work
• Apply AI-assisted engineering techniques
• Evaluate and integrate generative AI and machine learning capabilities
• Develop tools using operational telemetry and historical incident data
• Define and improve service-level indicators and operational health metrics
• Improve monitoring and observability across services
• Participate in architecture and operational-readiness reviews
• Act as a trusted technical advisor to customers and stakeholders
• Create best-practice recommendations and technical documentation
• Participate in capacity planning and system tuning
• Support system provisioning and maintenance activities
• Review service designs for reliability and operational sustainability
• Partner with development teams to improve product quality and customer experience
• Influence product roadmaps with operational findings
• Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership
• Establish standard engineering practices and operational procedures
