Job summary

The Principle Platform Engineer will design and build backend services and APIs for an on-prem control plane, focusing on PostgreSQL schema management and secure event pipelines.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Expert-level Python engineering experience
• Strong PostgreSQL experience, including schema design and operational performance
• Experience designing secure and reliable APIs and backend systems
• Experience with Docker-based deployments and Linux systems engineering
• Strong understanding of distributed-system trade-offs
• Ability to write clear technical documentation and implementation plans
• Comfortable working in a small founding team

Responsibilities

• Translate engineering specifications into a pragmatic architecture and implementation plan
• Design and build backend services, APIs and internal module boundaries
• Own the PostgreSQL schema for various data entities
• Build ingestion and processing paths for events and interactions
• Implement authentication, authorisation and RBAC foundations
• Implement audit-chain primitives and evidence export APIs
• Create engineering standards for code quality and documentation
• Package the control plane as an on-prem Docker Compose deployment
• Ensure alert and response workflows are deterministic and explainable
• Support technical conversations regarding backend architecture
