Job summary

EngFlow is seeking a Release Engineer to own the full release lifecycle for their remote execution platform. This role involves managing phased rollouts across production clusters, triaging regressions, maintaining CI health, and driving operational discipline. The ideal candidate will have high ownership, care deeply about reliability, and understand complex distributed systems.

Qualifications

  • Experience owning production deployments for distributed or cloud-hosted services.
  • Hands-on Terraform experience in AWS, GCP, and other cloud providers.
  • Ability to read a Terraform plan, spot drift, and decide on application or reversion.
  • Familiarity with build systems like Bazel, Gradle, Maven, or CMake.
  • Experience keeping a CI system healthy, investigating failures, and managing flaky tests.
  • Proficiency in Linux and shell for log analysis, scripting, and debugging.
  • Strong written English for clear updates, handover summaries, and runbooks.
  • Comfortable with high ownership and escalating when necessary.
  • Direct experience with Bazel or the Remote Execution API (REAPI).
  • Programming proficiency in Java, Go, Python, or TypeScript for automation and tooling.
  • Experience with PagerDuty and Linear or equivalent incident and issue-tracking workflows.
  • Background in platform or DevOps engineering at a product-led company.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes or container orchestration in production.

Responsibilities

  • Drive weekly releases from branch cut to full production rollout.
  • Manage phased deployment across various tracks using Terraform and internal tooling.
  • Deploy configuration changes to a global fleet of clusters.
  • Resolve Terraform drift and ensure cluster maintenance and certificate windows are met.
  • Run the weekly operational rotation, triaging issues and routing them to the correct team.
  • Investigate customer-reported cluster problems.
  • Facilitate the weekly Production Operations meeting.
  • Maintain the health of the master branch across all EngFlow-managed repositories.
  • Investigate and fix flaky tests.
  • Coordinate between engineers during production incidents.
  • Deploy hotfixes and configuration changes within agreed maintenance windows.
  • Improve runbooks and handover processes.
  • Reduce operational toil for future engineers on rotation.
