Job summary

Nationwide Building Society is seeking a Security Infrastructure Engineer with a strong background in Security Technology and solution design. The role involves working on multiple security projects, focusing on automation, simplification, and AI adoption within security tooling. The engineer will also be responsible for coaching and mentoring junior engineers and leading design decisions.

Qualifications

  • Strong background in Security Technology
  • Wealth of experience in solution design
  • Experience in Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Defender XDR, SOAR, and event pipeline & filtering solutions
  • Background in on-premises infrastructure and cloud environments (Azure, AWS)
  • Experience in SIEM tooling
  • Infrastructure and coding background
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code and post-deployment configuration management
  • Skills in PowerShell, Terraform, Ansible, Windows/Unix scripting, Java, C#, or Python
  • Strong experience in DevOps and CI/CD
  • Experience delivering robust automation and pipeline solutions
  • Experience designing and delivering solutions on Linux in enterprise environments
  • Good understanding of Active Directory and Entra ID
  • Experience deploying standard and complex off-the-shelf technical solutions
  • Ability to work with business analysts and stakeholders
  • Ability to work among technical teams to deliver and support solutions
  • Experience with PCI-DSS and GDPR is an advantage

Responsibilities

  • Work on multiple security projects
  • Work across security tooling for automation, simplification, and AI adoption
  • Perform solution design
  • Drive and innovate SIEM product solutions from a deep technical engineering perspective
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities
  • Deliver solutions including troubleshooting and providing effective outcomes
  • Coach and mentor colleagues and junior engineers
  • Lead and influence design decisions and outcomes across all areas of security
  • Represent the team at design authorities
  • Provide guidance and advice to other engineers within the team
  • Contribute to engineering communities in developing and establishing best practices, patterns, and guardrails
  • Work with internal and strategic partners to deliver key solutions
