Senior Automation Engineer

Job summary

The Senior QA Automation Engineer builds and maintains a browser-based regression test suite using Playwright, JavaScript or TypeScript, and Node.js. The role organizes manual tests in Azure DevOps Test Plans, prioritizes automation by business value, integrates execution and reporting into CI/CD pipelines, and uses AI-assisted tools such as GitHub Copilot and Playwright CodeGen. It also covers failure investigation, defect triage, and documentation of frameworks and runbooks.

Qualifications

• At least 7 years of hands-on test automation experience as an individual contributor
• Strong Playwright experience with JavaScript or TypeScript on Node.js
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps Test Plans, including test cases, suites, runs, and results management
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, preferably Azure DevOps Pipelines
• Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot
• Experience translating manual test documentation into structured test cases and executable automation

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain browser-based regression tests using Playwright and JavaScript or TypeScript on Node.js
• Maintain test cases, suites, and traceability in Azure DevOps Test Plans
• Identify high-value candidates for automation based on repeatability, business criticality, and potential regression time savings
• Use AI-assisted tools to develop tests and refine generated output for reliability and maintainability
• Automate test execution and reporting, publishing results to Azure DevOps and linking them to corresponding test cases
• Integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines and maintain stable, fast, low-flakiness execution
• Investigate failures, document defects with reproduction steps, and collaborate with developers and QA to resolve issues
• Evaluate an Azure DevOps MCP Server for connecting AI tools to test plans and work items
• Document frameworks, conventions, and runbooks for ongoing maintenance
