Job summary
The Senior AWS Cloud Engineer will build and manage Vela’s cloud foundation in AWS GovCloud, focusing on secure data architecture and infrastructure-as-code standards.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of cloud engineering, with deep hands-on AWS experience
- Direct experience with AWS GovCloud (US)
- Strong AWS networking skills
- Strong infrastructure-as-code skills
- Experience designing secure data pipelines
- Familiarity with CMMC / NIST SP 800-171 or FedRAMP control expectations
- Comfortable operating independently in an early-stage environment
Responsibilities
- Design and build the GovCloud landing zone in AWS GovCloud (US) accounts
- Establish infrastructure-as-code standards
- Build the platform data architecture
- Stand up secure access
- Implement FIPS-validated encryption
- Own cloud networking
- Establish delivery automation with CI/CD pipelines
- Own operational health
- Partner on M&A integration
