Senior AWS Engineer

Job summary

The Senior AWS Engineer designs, implements, and supports secure, resilient, and highly available cloud environments for clients. This role involves leveraging AWS and other cloud technologies, architecting and delivering scalable AWS services using infrastructure as code and automation tools, and administering and optimizing Windows Server environments. The Senior Engineer also provides technical guidance, mentorship, and acts as a subject matter expert to enable the adoption and operation of modern cloud platforms.

• Proficient in deploying, managing, and optimizing AWS EC2 instances
• Solid understanding of networking, security principles, and cloud architecture best practices
• Strong professional working knowledge of Windows Server operating systems and associated infrastructure services
• Hands-on experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
• Proficiency in Terraform, CloudWatch, PRTG, GitHub source control, and GitHub Actions for CI/CD automation
• Proficiency in WAF and related security technologies
• Strong knowledge of AWS services, including S3, RDS, Route 53, IAM, VPC, and Lambda
• Ability to obtain UK Government Security Clearance (SC)
• Experience in a similar cloud or infrastructure engineering role

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operation and maintenance of Hosting and Infrastructure services
• Ensure service levels, obligations, and KPIs are consistently met
• Manage critical incidents, including outside normal business hours
• Act as AWS and cloud infrastructure subject matter expert
• Provide proactive technical leadership to advance function through innovative cloud solutions
• Drive continuous improvement and capability development
• Design, build, and enhance cloud and infrastructure solutions
• Share expertise by training and mentoring team members, partners, and clients
• Support sales initiatives, including technical input into proposals, contract changes, and client discussions
