Senior AWS Platform Engineer (EKS & Cloud Operations)

Job summary

The Senior AWS Platform Engineer maintains, enhances, and secures enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure supporting critical digital services. The role administers Amazon EKS and Kubernetes, automates infrastructure and CI/CD deployments, applies AWS security controls, and supports observability, production incident response, and service recovery. It also contributes to platform reliability, scalability, security remediation, and operational improvement in a hybrid Australian setting.

Qualifications

• At least three years of hands-on AWS cloud infrastructure engineering and operational support experience.
• Strong practical experience with Amazon EKS and Kubernetes.
• Experience with infrastructure automation and cloud engineering practices.
• Knowledge of AWS security controls, including IAM, IRSA, RBAC, WAF, secrets management, and vulnerability management.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, Argo CD, or comparable CI/CD technologies.
• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, Amazon CloudWatch, Dynatrace, or comparable observability tools.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and collaborate with technical and security teams.
• Familiarity with Terraform or AWS CloudFormation, GitOps, and Australian Government cybersecurity requirements such as the ISM and Essential Eight is desirable.
• Relevant AWS or Kubernetes certifications are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, enhance, and secure AWS-based platforms.
• Administer, upgrade, troubleshoot, patch, and optimize Amazon EKS and Kubernetes clusters.
• Implement infrastructure automation and secure, reliable cloud engineering solutions.
• Implement and support CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment practices.
• Monitor platform health and support production incident response, root cause analysis, and service recovery.
• Support platform releases, security remediation, and infrastructure improvement initiatives.
