Job summary

The Senior Backend Engineer designs and evolves backend capabilities for a global DevSecOps product, solving complex problems and influencing technical and product direction. The role includes setting standards for quality, security, reliability, and performance; mentoring engineers; improving architecture and operational practices; and responding to incidents. It also involves building or operating reliable agentic AI systems in production.

• Strong command of backend architecture, APIs, data systems, and performance tuning in complex product or service environments
• Proficiency in modern backend languages and deep understanding of systems programming
• Experience designing or evolving modular backend boundaries, bounded contexts, and migration-safe architectures
• Ability to lead through influence, technical judgment, and clear written communication
• Proven experience building or operating agentic systems in production, including tool use and error handling

Responsibilities

• Design and ship complex backend features with minimal guidance
• Make architectural choices across modular monoliths, shared components, and independently operated services
• Set backend standards for maintainability, testing, APIs, and operational readiness
• Advocate for product quality, security, availability, and performance
• Mentor associate and intermediate engineers
• Remove technical blockers and improve delivery practices through code and design reviews
• Diagnose and prevent performance and reliability issues at scale
• Participate in incident response and provide technical ownership
• Use and evaluate AI in production engineering workflows and coach colleagues on responsible use
