Senior Backend Engineer, Core DevOps

Job summary

Design and evolve backend capabilities for a global software development platform, solving complex technical problems and influencing architecture and product direction. Set standards for quality, security, reliability, performance, and operational readiness; mentor engineers and contribute to incident response. Build or operate reliable agentic AI systems in production, working across product and infrastructure boundaries in a remote, asynchronous environment.

• Strong command of backend architecture, APIs, data systems, and performance tuning in a complex product or service environment
• Proficiency in modern backend languages and understanding of systems programming
• Experience designing or evolving modular backend boundaries, bounded contexts, and migration-safe architectures
• Ability to lead through influence, technical judgment, and clear written communication
• Proven experience building or operating agentic systems in production, including tool use and error-handling strategies

Responsibilities

• Design and ship complex backend features with minimal guidance
• Make architectural trade-offs across modular monoliths, shared components, and independently operated services
• Define standards for backend style, maintainability, testing, APIs, and operational readiness
• Improve product quality, security, availability, and performance
• Mentor engineers and support delivery through code and design reviews
• Diagnose and prevent performance and reliability issues
• Participate in incident response and serve as a technical owner when appropriate
• Use AI in production engineering, assess its effectiveness, and coach responsible use
