Senior Backend & Platform Engineer

Job summary

Build and operate scalable backend services for a mobility platform supporting vehicle sharing, subscriptions, fleet management, IoT connectivity, and payments. Design Python and FastAPI APIs, asynchronous and event-driven systems, and PostgreSQL-backed applications; deploy them on AWS using Docker and CI/CD, while improving performance, reliability, and production monitoring.

Qualifications

• At least five years of professional software engineering experience, including substantial hands-on backend development.
• Strong Python proficiency, including asynchronous programming, concurrency, and performance optimization.
• Production experience with FastAPI or comparable Python frameworks.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, backend application design, and distributed systems.
• Experience with PostgreSQL schema design, indexing, query optimization, and transactions.
• Experience with Redis or equivalent caching technologies and external API integrations.
• Practical experience deploying and operating backend applications on AWS.
• Working knowledge of Docker, CI/CD pipelines, Linux servers, and production environments.
• Understanding of HTTP, HTTPS, DNS, load balancing, reverse proxies, and networking fundamentals.
• Experience with Git, automated testing, debugging, and code quality practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend applications, REST APIs, microservices, and event-driven services using Python and FastAPI.
• Build third-party, payment, and IoT integrations, along with background workers and asynchronous processing pipelines.
• Design and optimize PostgreSQL schemas, indexes, queries, transactions, and database access patterns.
• Deploy and operate applications on AWS using Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and reverse proxies.
• Monitor production services, troubleshoot incidents, and improve performance, resilience, and availability.
• Own backend services from design and development through deployment and production support.
• Collaborate on architecture, review code, improve existing systems, and mentor engineers.
