Job summary

BITSUMMIT is seeking a Senior Cloud Architect to lead the design and execution of multi-cloud infrastructure programs across AWS and Azure. This role involves owning architecture for high-impact initiatives such as Terraform-driven environment segregation, an automated patching program, and Amazon Linux end-of-life remediation. The ideal candidate will be able to decompose vague problems technically and execute solutions, spending time both in design and implementation.

Benefits

Accommodations available on request

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated, hands-on track record designing and implementing production cloud architecture on AWS (primary requirement).
  • Azure experience strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on, production experience implementing cloud solutions with Terraform or OpenTofu for infrastructure-as-code.
  • Senior-level architectural maturity: ability to take an ambiguous requirement, break it down technically, and execute independently without prescriptive direction.
  • Broad fluency across cloud standards: security, networking, CDN, scalability, reliability, and incident management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting designs to engineering leadership and influencing direction.
  • Site-to-site VPN and enterprise network design experience at scale.
  • Hands-on experience with patch management at scale (AWS Systems Manager Patch Manager, Azure Update Manager, or comparable tooling).
  • Amazon Linux 2 end-of-life migration or Linux LTS remediation experience.
  • Experience leading unscoped or discovery-driven projects to delivery.
  • Mentoring or technical leadership experience with mid-level engineers.
  • Minimum 6 years of production-level AWS architecture experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience designing and implementing cloud solutions in AWS.
  • Minimum 7 years of Terraform or OpenTofu experience in production environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design and lead Terraform / OpenTofu work to refactor existing AWS and Azure resources into properly segregated environments, with clear network and security boundaries.
  • Architect and roll out a Patch Manager program that automatically patches OS and middleware across every application running in AWS and Azure, including automatic vulnerability remediation.
  • Lead the Amazon Linux end-of-life remediation across the cloud estate, including planning, scheduling, and execution.
  • Design site-to-site VPN connectivity and other networking integrations between corporate and cloud environments.
  • Set the standards bar across CloudOps disciplines: cloud security, networking, CDN, scalability, reliability, and incident management.
  • Take ownership of unscoped or discovery-phase work, define the technical path forward, and drive it to closure.
  • Pair locally with the existing CloudOps engineering bench to mentor and uplift the team, including another senior engineer joining the Canadian office.
