Senior Cloud Engineer – Google Cloud (GCP)

Job summary

Build and operate secure, repeatable Google Cloud infrastructure for migrating enterprise applications and services from on-premises environments. The hands-on role covers provisioning with Terraform, configuring Windows Server and IIS using Ansible, establishing network connectivity and CI/CD pipelines, and supporting migrations involving SQL Server, Redis, RabbitMQ, and MSMQ.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or platform engineering, including hands-on GCP experience.
• Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform services, including Compute Engine, VPC networking, IAM, Cloud Storage, Cloud NAT, and Cloud Load Balancing.
• Strong Terraform experience, including reusable modules and infrastructure deployments.
• Experience managing Windows Server 2019 or 2022 and IIS environments.
• Experience with Ansible or similar configuration management tools.
• Understanding of DNS, routing, firewalls, VPNs, load balancing, and hybrid connectivity.
• Experience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience migrating applications or infrastructure from on-premises environments to the cloud.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across infrastructure, networking, and application connectivity.
• Comfort working with architects, application engineers, and client technical teams.
• Nice to have: experience with Octopus Deploy, IIS application migration to GCP, SQL Server on Compute Engine, Redis, RabbitMQ, MSMQ, Google Cloud Memorystore, Cloud Armor, VPC Service Controls, Cloud KMS, or Datadog.

Responsibilities

• Build and manage GCP infrastructure with Terraform, including projects, networks, virtual machines, storage, and IAM.
• Deploy and configure Windows Server virtual machines and IIS-hosted applications.
• Automate Windows configuration, operating system hardening, and IIS setup with Ansible.
• Configure GCP networking and connectivity to on-premises systems.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and application deployments using Octopus Deploy.
• Support migration of enterprise applications, Windows services, and SQL Server infrastructure to Google Compute Engine.
• Troubleshoot application connectivity, DNS, firewall rules, and external integrations.
• Support migration of caching and messaging systems, including Redis, RabbitMQ, and MSMQ.
• Implement cloud security controls, encryption, and access management.
• Configure monitoring and logging with GCP-native tools and Datadog.
• Validate infrastructure, troubleshoot migration issues, and support cutover activities with architecture and application teams.
• Document infrastructure configurations, deployment procedures, and operational handover details.
