Senior Cloud Engineer

Job summary

The Senior Cloud Engineer role is centered on managing and optimizing a multi-cloud environment, primarily using Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure. Responsibilities include designing secure cloud solutions, automating processes with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, and providing third-line technical support while ensuring compliance with cloud security principles and best practices.

Qualifications

• extensive experience managing and supporting cloud environments
• practical knowledge of Microsoft Azure
• strong experience administering cloud-native services
• hands-on expertise with Infrastructure as Code, ideally using Terraform
• comfortable automating operational processes using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages
• experience supporting cloud migrations, infrastructure modernisation, and hybrid environments
• understand cloud security principles, monitoring, disaster recovery, backup strategies, and business continuity requirements
• experience with Kubernetes, containerised workloads, and platforms such as GKE and AKS
• natural problem solver with strong troubleshooting and third-line support experience
• strong technical expertise with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Responsibilities

• Manage, monitor, support, and continuously improve production and non-production cloud environments
• Take ownership of cloud operations across Google Cloud Platform while supporting Azure services
• Design, build, and implement secure, scalable, and cost-effective cloud solutions
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code frameworks and cloud automation capabilities
• Deliver operational excellence through monitoring, performance tuning, capacity planning, and proactive issue prevention
• Provide third-line technical support, owning complex incidents and problems through to resolution
• Maintain cloud backup, recovery, and business continuity capabilities
• Support cloud migration projects, platform modernisation initiatives, and cloud transformation programmes
• Collaborate with development and application teams to improve deployment processes, CI/CD integrations, and operational readiness
• Contribute to container and Kubernetes environments
• Ensure cloud environments remain secure, compliant, and aligned with best practices
• Produce and maintain accurate technical documentation, standards, operational procedures, and architectural diagrams
• Work closely with internal teams and external partners to deliver a resilient and innovative cloud platform
