Job summary

Vodafone is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to design, build, and operate cloud infrastructure and platform services, focusing on secure, reliable, and scalable environments while supporting AI-native engineering practices.

Qualifications

• Experienced cloud, infrastructure or platform engineer with 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Infrastructure as Code, including Terraform.
• Experienced in operating services on at least one major cloud platform.
• Skilled in containers and orchestration technologies.
• Strong understanding of cloud networking and identity management principles.
• Experienced in designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledgeable in observability and operational tooling.
• Experienced in supporting production environments.
• Strong scripting and automation capabilities.
• Understanding of resilience and platform reliability engineering practices.
• Familiar with security and compliance requirements in cloud environments.
• Knowledge of AI-assisted software delivery approaches.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and operate cloud infrastructure and platform services using infrastructure-as-code and automation.
• Deliver secure, scalable, reliable and operationally ready cloud environments for engineering teams.
• Implement and maintain infrastructure-as-code modules, automated provisioning processes and deployment pipelines.
• Build observability, monitoring, alerting and operational controls into infrastructure solutions.
• Support production environments through incident investigation and troubleshooting.
• Apply security, identity, compliance and governance controls across all infrastructure components.
• Support AI-native engineering practices through infrastructure automation.
• Improve reliability and maintainability through reusable engineering patterns.
• Contribute to cloud cost optimisation initiatives.
• Identify technical risks and escalate architectural concerns.
• Collaborate with and mentor engineers through technical reviews.
