Senior Cloud & Infrastructure Engineer

Job summary

The Senior Cloud & Infrastructure Engineer will lead the transformation of the infrastructure function into a modern Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team, ensuring that all products run on secure and resilient infrastructure. This role involves mentoring engineers, defining best practices, and managing complex infrastructure challenges while collaborating closely with DevOps and Engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in a senior cloud, DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering role
• Deep proficiency across one or more cloud platforms
• Strong hands-on expertise with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools
• Experience with container orchestration platforms
• Strong scripting and automation skills
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Experience working in a medium to large enterprise

Responsibilities

• Lead the transformation of the Infrastructure team into a modern SRE function
• Define and embed best-practice CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code standards
• Own the design and operation of monitoring, logging, and alerting
• Act as senior technical point of contact for key customers
• Drive continuous improvement across infrastructure cost, reliability, performance, and security posture
• Identify skills gaps across the SRE function and work with DevOps and Engineering to bridge them
• Act as senior escalation point for complex cloud and infrastructure issues
• Create and maintain high-quality, auditable technical documentation
• Manage and optimise cloud estate costs
