Job summary

Design, secure, and operate public-cloud infrastructure for a managed platform where customers submit quantum jobs to emulators and QPUs. The role focuses on GCP architecture, Kubernetes across regional platforms, infrastructure governance, GitLab CI/CD security, monitoring, incident response, and enabling engineering teams to deploy reliably; it also occasionally supports HPC resources used for emulation.

Benefits

Dedicated budget and time for conferences

Qualifications

  • Experience designing public-cloud platforms; GCP experience preferred, or strong AWS expertise with willingness to learn GCP.
  • Ability to assess existing systems, prioritize improvements, and deliver changes incrementally.
  • Production experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, Linux, and cloud networking.
  • Hands-on GitOps and CI/CD experience, including progressive rollouts and GitLab administration; GitHub experience is also welcome.
  • Knowledge of IAM, least privilege, secrets management, encryption, and vulnerability management.
  • Confidence participating in on-call rotations.
  • Professional English communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to explain architectural decisions and trade-offs and document decisions, runbooks, and standards.
  • Ownership, adaptability, and comfort working with ambiguity and legacy systems.
  • Ability to collaborate with software, quantum research, and hardware teams and build consensus.
  • Ability to support colleagues through reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing.
  • Nice to have: experience with regulated or audited environments, multi-region or sovereign-cloud deployments, HPC and SLURM, or data engineering architectures.

Responsibilities

  • Improve and operate GCP infrastructure, including networking, identity, regional and tenant architecture, resilience, and cost control.
  • Define and document infrastructure standards, governance rules, versioned modules, review practices, and guardrails, and support their adoption.
  • Help software teams automate deployments, provision environments, and prepare services for production.
  • Strengthen monitoring, alerting, and incident response; participate in on-call rotations and implement lasting fixes.
  • Configure and secure GitLab infrastructure, CI/CD, runners, permissions, secrets, supply-chain practices, and instance settings.
  • Plan and sequence infrastructure migrations, refactoring, and hardening while maintaining production stability.
  • Occasionally contribute to HPC cluster resources used for quantum emulation.
