Senior Core Infrastructure Engineer

Job summary

Designs, develops, and operates distributed database and cloud infrastructure components, with a focus on scalability, reliability, availability, and security in multi-tenant environments. The work includes building large-scale data services, implementing replication and failover, testing performance and fault tolerance, monitoring service health, responding to incidents, and automating infrastructure operations. The role uses Java and scripting languages such as Python or Perl, with familiarity with Terraform or Ansible preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience delivering and operating large-scale, highly available distributed systems or cloud services
• Strong knowledge of Java and scripting languages such as Python or Perl
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, distributed systems, and cloud fundamentals
• Familiarity with networking protocols and architectures, including TCP/IP and HTTP
• Strong understanding of databases, NoSQL systems, storage, and distributed persistence technologies
• Knowledge of Terraform or Ansible preferred

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug cloud infrastructure software components
• Implement scalable distributed systems and large-scale data processing
• Build fault-tolerant services using redundancy, replication, failover, retries, circuit breakers, and timeouts
• Implement performance, load, functional, and fault-injection tests
• Configure monitoring, telemetry, dashboards, alarms, and alerts
• Draft and execute runbooks and operational procedures
• Diagnose incidents, investigate root causes, and automate troubleshooting
• Apply encryption, access controls, and security remediation in multi-tenant environments
• Maintain infrastructure automation and follow patching, updating, and rollback procedures
