Job summary

The Senior Data & AI Platform Engineer is responsible for leading the evolution and AI-enablement of a modern data platform during a critical scaling phase. This role involves migrating legacy reporting to a governed Microsoft Fabric platform, enhancing data pipeline stability, and leveraging AI and automation to optimize data engineering and analytics processes.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in data warehousing, analytics engineering, or data platform engineering.
• Strong Microsoft Fabric or Azure Synapse/Databricks experience.
• Expert SQL/T-SQL and strong Python or PySpark skills.
• Experience with Power BI and DAX, including semantic modelling and performance tuning.
• Proven track record in leading data platform migrations.
• Experience operating production data systems and incident response.
• Familiarity with Git-based data engineering workflows.
• Practical experience using AI or automation in data engineering contexts.

Responsibilities

• Lead Microsoft Fabric architecture across lakehouse, warehouse, notebooks, semantic models, and production governance.
• Migrate legacy reporting to a governed Fabric semantic layer with stakeholder sign-off.
• Improve data pipelines across APIs, files, and operational stores; establish monitoring and data-quality checks.
• Utilize AI and automation to enhance ETL/ELT development and reporting processes.
• Design Power BI semantic models and reusable metric definitions for various reporting needs.
• Support CRM and operational data integrations, including reverse-ETL patterns.
• Create reliable ingestion patterns for acquired businesses to streamline future integrations.
• Set data-engineering standards and mentor engineers and analysts.
• Build automated reporting capabilities to enhance decision-making speed.
