Job summary

BCI is seeking a Senior Data & Analytics Engineer (Platform) for a one-year temporary contract based in Vancouver, BC. This hands-on role involves owning and maintaining BCI’s Enterprise Data Platform, which supports 75% of the organization's decisions. The position requires working with a modern tech stack including Databricks, Power BI, and enterprise Claude, and contributing with minimal direction.

• Bachelor's degree in a related field
• Minimum 6 years of related experience
• Advanced proficiency with SQL
• Advanced proficiency with Python
• Advanced proficiency with modern data platforms (Databricks preferred)
• Proven top performer and self-starter
• Curious and capable of learning new skills, behaviors, and tools quickly
• Advanced proficiency using LLMs and AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude, Claude Code)
• Hands-on experience with Databricks or comparable Lakehouse technologies
• Experience with cloud data platform administration (Azure preferred)
• Experience with CI/CD
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code

Responsibilities

• Build and operate BCI’s Enterprise Data Platform
• Lead, build, and maintain platform components for ingestion, transformation, governance, orchestration, and observability
• Mentor junior engineers
• Design scalable platform patterns and shared infrastructure
• Design catalog and permission models
• Design deployment frameworks
• Design data quality solutions
• Design federation between systems
