Job summary
The Senior Data Platform Engineer helps shape and build a cloud data platform that supports millions of fitness members and enables teams across operations, marketing, and finance to use reliable, governed data. The role includes developing batch and streaming pipelines in Databricks, guiding architectural decisions and legacy migrations, and improving platform performance, cost, governance, and reliability using technologies such as SQL, PySpark, Python, Azure Data Factory, and Terraform.

Qualifications
- At least 3 years of hands-on Databricks experience in production
- Strong SQL, PySpark, and Python skills
- Experience building and operating production batch and streaming pipelines
- Experience with CI/CD and infrastructure as code
- Knowledge of data modelling, governance, security, and cost optimisation on a cloud data platform
- Experience contributing to architectural decisions or migrations and explaining trade-offs to technical and non-technical colleagues
- Excellent English communication skills
Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable batch and streaming pipelines in Databricks
- Co-own architectural decisions and establish engineering, CI/CD, and platform standards
- Lead migration of legacy pipelines to a modern Databricks platform
- Improve platform performance, cost, governance, and reliability
- Evaluate and productionise Databricks capabilities, including Lakeflow Connect, Databricks Apps, and dashboards
- Use AI and agents to automate engineering work and improve data quality
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews and pairing
