Job summary
The Senior Database Reliability Engineer designs, operates, and improves highly available MariaDB/MySQL platforms that support latency-sensitive services across global infrastructure. The role includes managing database clusters, replication, failover, backups, and performance; automating operations with Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD; and owning Linux systems, Kubernetes deployments, and monitoring with Prometheus and Grafana. The engineer also works with platform and application teams to strengthen security, recovery, and service reliability.

Qualifications
- At least five years of hands-on experience managing production database platforms
- Experience with MariaDB, MySQL, or PostgreSQL
- Comfort operating Linux, particularly in on-premises or hybrid environments
- Experience troubleshooting storage, networking, and system resource issues
- Experience with Ansible and Terraform or similar automation tools
- Experience integrating databases into CI/CD pipelines
- Production experience with Prometheus and Grafana
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills
- Based in Montréal or the surrounding area
- Valid authorization to work in Canada
Responsibilities
- Design and evolve highly available database platforms across multiple environments
- Operate and optimize database clusters, including replication, failover, backups, and performance tuning
- Automate database provisioning, configuration, upgrades, and maintenance
- Own Linux systems supporting database workloads in bare-metal and hybrid environments
- Integrate database changes into CI/CD pipelines
- Implement monitoring and alerting for database performance, capacity, and reliability
- Apply security best practices and improve availability and recovery processes
- Collaborate with platform, DevOps, and application teams and support incident reviews
