Job summary
The Senior Database Reliability Engineer designs and operates reliable, high-performing databases for cloud-native platforms supporting online gaming and sports media. The role spans database architecture, production incident response, schema and query optimization, replication and recovery, and business continuity, using PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, AWS or GCP, Terraform, and GitOps.

Qualifications
- At least 5 years of hands-on database engineering experience, including PostgreSQL
- At least 5 years of experience in an AWS or GCP cloud environment
- At least 3 years of high-level programming experience in Python or Go
- Experience with Kubernetes operators, particularly Zalando and CNPG
- Experience with Kafka or other distributed event streaming systems, ETL, and CDC
- Strong database monitoring and architecture experience
- Strong production Kubernetes experience
- Experience supporting applications subject to compliance audits
- Experience remediating production support issues promptly
- Experience building infrastructure as code, preferably with Terraform
Responsibilities
- Evaluate database architectures and recommend improvements to performance and availability
- Respond to database outages, triage issues, and implement remediation
- Optimize database schemas, partitions, views, and queries
- Manage database replication and support resilience and fault recovery
- Guide database product selection, design, and modeling for AWS and GCP
- Develop database architecture for business continuity, backups, compute, networking, and storage
- Automate infrastructure deployment with Terraform and GitOps
- Build repeatable database architecture for new installations
- Contribute to engineering support within Agile Scrum and Kanban workflows
