Job summary

The Senior Linux Systems & DevOps Engineer is responsible for managing and enhancing the production AWS and Linux infrastructure that supports the platform. Key responsibilities include maintaining critical services such as nginx, Apache, Redis, and OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, automating operational tasks with Python and Bash, and participating in a 24/7 on-call rota to ensure system reliability.

Qualifications

• strong hands-on systems administration experience
• solid experience in DevOps or similar infrastructure role
• strong hands-on Linux experience in production environments
• strong AWS and infrastructure-as-code experience
• automation-first mindset
• ability to take ownership of production issues
• comfortable working independently
• experience with nginx, Apache, Redis, MariaDB/RDS/Postgres, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, Terraform, and CDN/WAF technologies
• comfortable participating in a 24/7 on-call rota
• experience with Bitbucket Pipelines, Ansible, and monitoring tools like Zabbix, CloudWatch, Pingdom, or New Relic
• working knowledge of PHP or Node.js
• experience within PCI DSS or ISO 27001 environments

Responsibilities

• Manage, monitor and improve production AWS and Linux infrastructure
• Run and maintain services including nginx, Apache, Redis, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, and relational databases
• Maintain infrastructure as code, configuration management, and CI/CD using Terraform, Ansible, and Bitbucket Pipelines
• Manage CDN and WAF layer across Akamai and Cloudflare
• Monitor platform health and performance, responding to alerts and improving resilience
• Take ownership of production incidents, troubleshooting across systems and infrastructure
• Automate operational tasks using Python and Bash
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rota
