Senior DevOps & Cloud Engineer – Defense (gn)

Job summary

Build and operate secure, automated, and reliable platforms for defense and other security-critical projects in regulated environments. The role covers Kubernetes or OpenShift platform engineering, infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, troubleshooting, and security documentation, using technologies such as Linux, GitLab CI, Helm, Terraform, and Ansible.

Qualifications

• At least five years of relevant DevOps, cloud, or platform engineering experience.
• Practical expertise in Linux and Kubernetes and/or OpenShift.
• Experience with CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and automated deployments.
• Experience with tools such as Helm, GitLab CI, and Terraform or Ansible.
• Understanding of networking, routing, DNS, VPN, and role and access control concepts.
• Demonstrable project experience in the defense sector.
• Familiarity with security requirements, approval processes, and documentation obligations in regulated environments.
• Relevant completed degree or comparable qualification with practical experience.
• German proficiency at C2 level and good English skills.
• Willingness to travel for project-dependent customer assignments within Germany.
• Willingness to undergo a required security screening.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve container-based platforms using Kubernetes and/or OpenShift.
• Automate infrastructure and deployments and establish reproducible configurations.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, including GitLab CI, and support secure release processes.
• Work with private or isolated cloud and virtualization environments as required by projects.
• Support monitoring, logging, troubleshooting, and stable platform operations.
• Implement security requirements and document architecture, configurations, and operational processes.
