Senior DevOps Engineer (Azure)

Job summary

This senior DevOps and Platform Engineering role owns and improves production infrastructure on Microsoft Azure, supporting reliable, secure, and cost-efficient services. The work includes building GitLab CI/CD pipelines, managing infrastructure with Terraform, implementing monitoring and security controls, responding to incidents, supporting GDPR and ISO 27001 compliance, and helping development teams adopt effective DevOps workflows.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of hands-on DevOps or Platform Engineering experience, including ownership of production cloud infrastructure.
• Extensive production experience with Azure compute, networking, storage, and Entra ID.
• Strong experience designing, troubleshooting, and improving CI/CD pipelines, repositories, and deployment workflows.
• Strong production Infrastructure as Code experience; Terraform preferred.
• Ability to investigate complex or unfamiliar environments and drive solutions with limited direction.
• Proficiency in PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
• Experience with containers and orchestration, such as Docker, Kubernetes, or AKS.
• Understanding of observability, including MELT concepts and related tools.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Key Vault, and RBAC.
• Understanding of Azure VNets, NSGs, Private Endpoints, and DNS.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across development, operations, and stakeholder teams.
• Currently based in Ireland.
• GitLab or GitLab CI experience, repository or pipeline migrations, security or code quality scanning, and regulated-industry experience are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Integrate DevOps best practices into development workflows and automate pipeline controls.
• Design, build, troubleshoot, and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Provision and manage scalable, resilient, cost-efficient Azure infrastructure using Terraform or comparable IaC tools.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting for system health and incident response.
• Integrate vulnerability scanning, secrets management, and Azure security practices into delivery pipelines.
• Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and preventive improvements.
• Support GDPR and ISO 27001 compliance through infrastructure controls, access management, and audit readiness.
• Guide development teams on DevOps tools, practices, and workflows.
• Contribute to AI-powered solutions and use AI tools to improve automation and engineering efficiency.
