Job summary

The Senior DevOps Engineer leads the design, reliability, and deployment strategy for high-concurrency cloud environments supporting an online game. The role partners with Go backend engineers to operate microservices across AWS and GCP, using Terraform, Kubernetes, and automated CI/CD pipelines. Key work includes scaling and observability, PostgreSQL and streaming infrastructure, and incident response.

• At least 8 years of experience operating production infrastructure, platform engineering, or DevOps at scale.
• Deep experience running containerized microservices on AWS using EKS, ECS, or similar orchestration systems.
• Advanced hands-on Terraform experience with complex, multi-environment infrastructure.
• Experience building automated build and release pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, ArgoCD, or similar tools.
• Experience managing end-to-end telemetry for high-volume microservices.
• Knowledge of Docker, networking protocols, and PostgreSQL backup, restore, replication, and zero-downtime migrations.
• Resident of Canada and eligible to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Design, provision, and maintain highly available AWS and GCP infrastructure using Terraform.
• Build and maintain secure, resilient CI/CD pipelines for containerized Go microservices and event-processing systems.
• Collaborate with backend engineers to support high-concurrency, low-latency systems and define reliability targets and autoscaling strategies.
• Implement monitoring, tracing, and logging using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and Datadog.
• Establish and participate in blameless on-call rotations, post-incident reviews, and incident remediation.
• Support PostgreSQL migrations, backups, disaster recovery, and streaming infrastructure.
• Write architecture decision records, infrastructure RFCs, and post-mortems, and review infrastructure code.
